RGM-79GS GM Command

BANDAI 1/144 scale plastic injection kit

Introduction by Metal Slime

This variation was adapted from the RGM-79G production and targeted to be space-oriented usage. The thruster power was powered-up by 10%, the 4 ways apogee motor was added to 14 (compare to 10 in G version) for better mobility and maneuverability in space.

Moreover, the shell-firing machine gun (standard armament in G Version) was changed to the improved version of beam gun, for added firepower and better response. Other weapons include 2 60mm vulcan cannon and beam sabres.

The kit

Bandai's both GM Command kits are indeed the rare occasion that little to none alteration is needed for the proportion. It's also one of the few (only?) 1/144 kit that the visor part comes in clear plastic, which is beyond cool! On top of that, this makes a wonderful base for building other GM variations. Suffice to say, I own loads of 'em (5 to be exact). :-)

No modifications whatsoever has been done to this model during the cause of putting it together! <G> In fact, in was thrown together rather quickly. At the time I needed a white/ red GM to compliment the Katoki version Gundam. It took me only 3-4 days for this one, with the construction itself at no more than 1 hour. I think I didn't even wait for the primer to completely dry before painting the first coat.

Painting

The shading is done right after the model is primed by airbrushing a flat black/ navy blue around the edge of each piece. The areas that were left will become highlight. After that, a flat white is sprayed all over, giving a subtle shading overall. The red areas were just shine red (#79) and red brown as a shade.
