MSM-03C Hygog

B-Club 1/144 scale resin kit

Introduction by Metal Slime

The biggest obstacle for Zeon’s earth invasion plan was to conquer the oceanic territorial. Therefore, many amphibian MSs were designed to perform in these areas. The high power generator must be able to fit into the sleek
body design yet maintain maximum firepower. Some of the design made using data gathered from experiments under the simulated ocean in the colony, have proven to be a failure (MS-06M) under actual atmospheric operations, while others need only minor revision. This MSM-03C (as well as MS-07E, Zugock-E), falls into the latter category as a revision of its succesful cousin, Gog.

MSM-03 (Gog) type MS was designed to pair up with MSM-07 (Zugock) type MS, in the ‘Silent’ operation under the command of Zeon U-boats (U-Con, Mad Angler, etc.). Depending on mission requirements, an underwater jetpack can be equipped for boosting up and jumping purpose.

With the revised mono-eye layout, better mobility through the redesigned shoulder armor, and its smaller size (total height 15.4 m compares to 18.3 of the original version), the Hygog is one of the better Amphibian MS design during the One-year war. It can be equipped with 4 head torpedoes, hand missile unit, and beam cannon.

Many Hygogs were designated to the territory of North America, South Africa, South Asia and Australia continent. The most famous of which is, of course, those assignd to the Cyclop team in an espionage attempt to steal a Gundam prototype.

Now, on to the model...

This is one of those long discontinued B-Club kit. The prototype is a kit conversion (beyond recognition) by Eiki Yokoyama, which can also be seen in Hobby Japan's Gundam Weapons UC0080 book. At first I thought the plastic kit was decent, but after I got the GK, it looked so sad in comparison, I had to throw it away ^^; and now I can't seem to find it. I need the parts, dammit!

Didn't wildly modify anything on this kit, since it's already pretty good as it it. Only a light crystal on the monoeye and using 8mm clear plastic pipe under the feet to help it stands more steadily.
