Introduction by Metal Slime

Jagd Doga is a prototype mobile suit specially developed for Neo-Zeon's newtype pilots. There were 2 units made; the blue one was for Gyunei Gus personal use, and the red one was designed for Quess Paraya.

The development was based on the Axis-designed AMS-119 Gera Doga, by strategic decision of Char Aznable in order to get high performance newtype MSs. In the initial stage, the development has led to AMS-120 Gera
Doga [Psychomu Test Type] and later, branched out into MSN-04 Sazabi and RX-93 Nu-Gundam by Anaheim Electronics.

The Movable Frame concept of Gera Doga is still retained, with addition of bigger generator for higher power. Moreover, the layout of thrusters and Apogee Motors was redesigned to reach maximum capability. The armor material has also changed from Titanium Composite and Ceramic to Gundarium Composite.

Standard armaments includes beam assault rifle, beam gattling gun, compact heat knife with beam saber, triple micro missiles x 2, plus an optional shield,
which sported 4 Mega Particle cannons that is an improved, compact version from those of AMX-103 Hamma Hamma. In a New Type warfare, the Jagd Doga would equip with 6 psycho-controlled funnels (3 on top of each shoulder shield) ,which made it one of the deadliest New Type mobile suit in UC history.

The model

This project is a renovation of a model I finished a long long time ago. The whole thing was completely painted by brush. One day I just decided that I'm not happy with it anymore. So I embarked on a hellish quest to strip off all the paints with thinner and sand paper, plus adding some modifications along the way. Turns out, the paint removal itself took a hell lot longer than the re-painting.

Mobility-wise, there's a few obvious things to be done. The rear skirt, which both side connected to each other with a spur needs to be separated. And the sockets on the lower leg, that connect with upper legs, can be cut open to enable a much wider range of poseability. Also as a side benefit of replacing all the plastic cables with springs, both head and arms can move at a wider angle without restricting to that piece of 'movement disabler'! To accommodate a 3mm spring, I made a new socket under the cockpit with pla-pipe and carved a little piece of plastic to hold it.

The fun part on this model is adding stuff to the surface. The kit comes with little details, and large empty area of space. I decided to liven things up a bit with rivets and some additional verniers. All the verniers that come with the kit are pretty ugly looking, so they're all being swapped with various verniers I have left lying around.

On the weapon department, the Neo-Zeon mark on the shield are cut from thin plastic plate to replace the sticker, while the beam machine gun's sensor is modified with small light crystal.

On to the head, a new antennae is made from plastic plate coupled with polyester putty and brass rods. Also the 'fore head' is fatten up with putty, or else it'd looks funny with large antennae.

Painting

I usually prefer flat finishing, but this one screams for a semi-gloss. The first coat of blue is a toned down Turquoise, using light gray. Then the shadowed area is dark blue. The method differ from my usual routine in that this time, the shadowed area took place in the middle of each piece (as oppose to the edge). Thus, the highlight falls on the angle/edge, giving a rather unique effect.

For the gold part I used the gold metal color mixed with chrome silver, and buff it up after dried. The problem though, is that these color isn't very well enamel-resisted. I had to be very careful doing wash over them. Of course, I could have just spray clear coat over, but I was being too lazy.

More Jagd Doga

I also have Quess's Jagd Doga, kit that I also want redone. I have a much much sicker plan though, this time. But it just pains me thinking about removing all the paint again...

Oops! Forgot to put one more pic in there! Here.
