Jegan and Stark Jegan

BANDAI 1/144 scale injection kit

I first...

... start messing around a bit with the Stark Jegan garage kit not long after I got it, not expecting to complete it any time soon. After a while I just forget about it, having too many projects going on at the same time. Then while on one of my annual trip to NY, I bought the Jegan plastic kit out of boredom (I have finished one a long time ago) of not being away from my pla-model workshop, and start toying with ideas to modify it with the B-club conversion parts. Not wanting to make it the F-91 era Jegan almost render the whole conversion kit useless.

And then...

...when I get back home comparing the two kit, it appears that the Stark Jeganis a little too small, almost out of scale. So some modification needed to be made with one of them. At this point it's only natural that I decided to build the two simultaneously so I could control both's proportion to suit one another as I go along. Plus I can easily paint them the same scheme without the need to mix the same color serveral times, this way. Thus eliminate the likelyhood that I might screw up the color.

Continuity Freak

In order to minimize the size of the Jegan (or the impression of its size), I scratchbuilt a new torso for it which also happened to increse its posability a whole lot. Another point where the size different between them is significant is the thigh. Rather than physically alter the size here, this time I opted for just the effect (being lazy as I was). By slapping a metal platings over and paint part of it dark color instead of the whole piece being green, therefore I had fragmented the overall massiveness of the part whcih resulted in the thing looks somewhat reduced in size, psychologically at least. At the same time the Stark's armor also help made up for what it's lack in size. Overall, I think the 2 kits took me almost a year to complete. As I have not constantly working on them, most of the time they were just sit there on the table.
