Stark Jegan

1/144 resin cast kit

Stark Jegan is one variation of Jegan designed by one of the Uber designer, Mika Akitaka specially for the first edition of MS Encyclopedia. Not a whole lot of backgrounf info were given at the time, but hey, it looks cool and the Jegan needs some variations, so there!

The Kit

I can't recall the maker or sculpter's name for it but this is an event-only (JAF-CON) kit. I think it is molded from a contest winner of one of the earlier Kotobukiya modeling contest. The overall look is pretty good and quite faithful to the original design, though I'd say but a bit off scale (too small). Putting it together required some major work. There is not any kind of 'attacher' (for the lack of better word) for the arms and body or the legs and waist area. Just a flat surface (indirectly) against flat surface! The instruction sheet didn't help much either. It's basically a (very) rough free hand drawing. Definately not a beginner's kit. Oh well, it's such a rare kit anyhow. Can't win 'em all.

Full-Actionizing it

The construction process took much longer than it should due to my insistence on making this fixed-pose kit full action. Well, I somewhat succeeded! With the pay-off of the kit not being able to stand on its own very well. Basically, the booster unit on the back is far too heavy for the 2 small ball joints on the foot to withstand, cuasing a tendency to fall backward. I can't replace it with larger joints either, since there's no space left.

Apart from full-actionizing it, I also make most of the armors/ weapons part to be removable through poly caps. So that I can have it pose as a non-equipped style. The leg armor thogh, I'm just too damn lazy to bother.

 Painting

Same as the Jegan, the paints use on the SJ are white (1) +daytona green (66) +clear blue (50). For armors, I use aircraft gray and white for base paint and shaded it with neutral gray. The dark gray parts are navy blue (14) and midnight blue (71).
