(a very old) MGOCK 1/144 scale resin kit

This is a renovation project of the kit I finished long ago. It was a fixed-pose kit. And too many times it has broken into pieces by accident. The last time this happened, I was just too lazy to put it back together. Until recentl, I decided to modify it to be a full action model.

So far, the structures for legs, arms and head have been finalized. The remaining is just the waist (still deciding whether to add joint) and the mechanism that hold barrel on the shoulder.

The upper parts

Here is an explode of each piece that form the upper body. Between shoulder and upper arm, I'm using a simple rod/polycap to enable rotation.

The elbow utilize a swing joint from Kotobukiya. Part of the fake joint of the kit is retained as a cover.

This side of arm is the unmodified version.

The body

This shows how the joints is attached into the neck. Most of the socket will be 'buried' into the head. This is to eliminate the impression of the MS having an unusually long neck.

Same with the shoulder joint, half of the ball is to be implanted into the structure, to help supports the weight of a very heavy arm (and weapons).

The chest sensor is sporting a crystal. Though this has been done since I first constructed it.

Legs

A comparrison of full actionized and standard leg. To hide the joint in the upper leg, I carved a space in the middle of the (non movable) resin joint to use it as a cover and stick a swinging joint in there. Poly caps are used to secure both end of that joint.

Those little propellant tanks also got a ball joint treatment. This is one of the original modification before this remodeling.

This is the leg after the articulationized. The knee joint is pretty well-hidden, I feel.

The hard part's gonna be painting over all the damages inflicted during joint installation. Perhaps, I'll need to strip off all the old paint. Ahhh, the fun of modeling...
